Hixson is north of the river, and it is the most consistently shaded area we work in. Big established subdivisions off Hixson Pike and Middle Valley, mature hardwoods that were planted when the houses went up and are now forty years taller than the rooflines.
The housing stock is mostly 1980s and 1990s: vinyl and hardboard siding, asphalt roofs, a lot of it under continuous tree cover. That combination is the reason this is the softwash end of the county.

Hardboard siding in particular does not forgive high pressure, so this is an area where the soft wash approach is not a preference, it is the only correct method.

My siding is the old hardboard. Can it be washed safely?
Yes, and it has to be soft washed rather than pressure washed. Hardboard swells and delaminates once water gets behind or into it, and high pressure is how that happens. Low pressure and the right solution clean it without forcing anything into the board.
