Parvin's Pressure Washing

Deck and fence cleaning in Chattanooga, TN

Brings gray weathered wood back without splintering it.

What actually happens

Wood goes gray because UV breaks down the surface fibers and mildew moves into what's left. The gray is not dirt sitting on top, it is damaged wood, which is why scrubbing does very little.

Wood also fails from the bottom up. The last few inches of a fence picket and the joists under a deck stay damp longest and rot first, and neither is visible from where you normally stand. That is where the mildew load is heaviest and where cleaning does the most good.

How we do it

Pressure matched to the material. Cedar and pine are soft, and too much pressure raises the grain and leaves the surface fuzzy. Composite has its own rules. The right pressure lifts the gray without raising the grain.

Questions

Will it splinter or furr the wood?

Not at the right pressure. Cedar and pine are soft, so they get noticeably less than a concrete slab would.

Can you clean composite decking?

Yes, and it has its own rules. Composite does not take the same pressure as real wood.

Can you stain or seal it after?

Cleaning is what we do. Wood has to be fully dry before any finish goes on, so that is a separate visit either way.
